When I’m watching American Idol, often the judges will say that the artist needs to feel the song. It is in every note, every track, Shannon feels this music. Her voice is clear and strong with the belief she feels in her heart.
Individual Tracks
The title track, I Have A Song, will wash over you like waves of the ocean. When the lyrics tell us of times of sadness and “broken-ness”, Shannon uses her voice to convey the feelings of despair. Then it builds, as the courage and strength of her beliefs comes through into a victorious crescendo of faith in the Lord, who has His eye on every sparrow. The peacefulness of the retreating tide is heard in her final knowledge that because of her faith, she is free and safe.
While I was waiting for our adoption paperwork to be processed and for Rosie to come home, I created music play lists - for morning when she would wake up in the crib we had so carefully selected for her; for bedtime; and for play. This Is The Day is a perfect addition to a morning playlist. The words and the music were written by Shannon and it conveys a hope and an excitement for the coming day.
There are nine more tracks, all “Words and Music by Shannon Wexelberg” except for Praise to the Lord, the Almighty (traditional) and ‘Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus (Words by Louisa M. R. Stead, Music by William J. Kirkpatrick) and I think you will enjoy them all.
About The Artist
This is Shannon’s (after you listen to this cd, you will feel like you know her well enough to be on a first-name basis) fourth solo project. Since the age of six, when Shannon started piano lessons, music and worship has been an integral part of her life. To learn more about Shannon, visit her website -http://www.shannonwexelberg.com/ There are many interesting stories!
This album reflects the struggles that she has been going through in her personal life. After dealing with infertility for years, in 2005, Shannon and her husband Mark adopted a beautiful child, Christian. Their son has added a dimension to their lives like no other. In March, 2009, Mark was injured seriously in a motorcycle accident. Their world was turned upside down. After many surgeries and therapy, Mark is recovering but it is a long journey. These challenges have made her stronger in her faith. In the liner notes, she says, “Still, I know that God is faithful to every one of His promises. Maybe not in the way we always expect or the way would prefer, but He is faithful and full of unfathomable love for us. Always. No exceptions……So, will you join me in singing?”
