Are you going to the beach this summer? This is an idea for a Summer Bonding Project! I wanted something to remember a special day at the beach using shells. I checked my favorite craft site Family Fun and modified their suggestions slightly.
You'll need 18 large seashells - clam, oyster or scallop work best, a photo printer and some Glue Dots. After you come home, use 18 large shells to create a fun game that will always remind of the day. Print out two sets of photos from your day, it could be someone buried in the sand, someone jumping the waves, wearing goofy sunglasses, a picture of your picnic - anything. Cut out two sets of nine quarter-sized items from the photos and use glue dots to attach the photo to the inside of the shells. Make sure that you have pairs of photos! Now the game, turn the shells upside down and play a match game!
Every time you play the "Shell Matching Game" you'll be able to remember your special day at the beach and your Summer Bonding Project.
I found Glue Dots when I was putting together gift baskets for a silent auction. A dear cousin of mine had some catastrophic medical issues and asked me to handle the silent auction portion of her benefit event. Have you ever received a gift basket and noticed the adhesive dots that hold everything together so nicely? After unsucessfully trying to tape items, I decided to search for a different adhesive. Mr. Google is my friend! He told me that I could go to our local hobby store for Glue Dots. I love this product! It worked so well!
You might not be putting together gift baskets or Easter baskets every day, well, of course not! But there are tons of fun things you can do with these little dots. Glue Dots provide the strength you need in an adhesive without the mess and dry time required of liquid glues. Glue Dots bond instantly to a wide variety of surfaces including: Paper/photos, Metal, Wood, Plastic, Textiles/Fibers, Plastic, Foam, and more! Here's some ideas:
Disclosure: I received a free sample of Glue Dots. I wrote this blog post while participating in the TwitterMoms and Glue Dots blogging contest to be eligible to receive a $30 gift card. For more information on how you can participate, click here.
